Vern is doing well financially these days:

    -Bought a farm in Rockdale/DeKalb (4/14/03 for $550,000),
-A house in Madison (4/28/06 for $245,000….but the mortgage is for $277,000)
    -A house in Greensboro (5/25/06 for $330,000).
-Owns a gas station on Memorial Dr.
-Houses in Madison and Greensboro are NOT on Vern’s financial disclosure statement dated 6/06
-Owned a Brookhaven condo that wasn’t on his campaign disclosures and sold it to Ann Kimbrough, his Chief of Staff. The condo was purchased the from the now convicted Phil Hill who was running a big real estate scam.
-Also owned a property near Turner Field, not on campaign disclsoures, where then Asst. Chief of Staff Lance Robertson stayed, Lance resigned when accused of rape after a big Vernon party.

VJ made $100,000 per year from 2001-05, then took a raise he went on record saying he wasn’t going to accept in 2005 of $150,000 per.

Geez … why would these guy even bother running with all of this crap?!? I mean, he’d have to know that with so much crap in his background, some thing, if not all, would come out in a heated race.

This ameteur doesn’t even need an opponent to do him in.

  3. Trackboy1 says:

The guy is incredibly charismatic and a Clintonian-like public speaker. Doesn’t matter the audience, white, black, Christian, Jew, rich, poor, etc. (actually he is very weak on Latino issues in the county), the guy is simply strong at working a crowd. And after never mentioning it during five election campaigns, he’s suddenly a “conservative” Democrat.

He’s had scandal after scandal in DeKalb. Fired a popular homegrown police chief and replaced him with a puppet, who got caught on tape being a racist and resigned. His Human Reources Director got caught on tape being a reverse racist and did not resign, and still has his job. His buddy Asst. Chief of Staff who was accused of rape somehow never had a criminal background check. Not one but two federal reverse discrimination lawsuits against him & the county. Tens of millions in bonds issued by county bond-issuing authorities without any public disclosure. Very, very shady land purchases from his Greenspace Bond program. County sheriff goes from being No. 16 on the FEMA home flood plain buyout list to No. 1 with no explanation.

The list goes on and on. But with such a strong CEO form of gov’t, the commissioners can’t do much against him or their proposals never make the agenda. Plus, a popular black male Democrat CEO in DeKalb can pretty much do whatever he wants, and Vernie has.

Saxby has tons of stuf to use against Vern, but Vern will be smooth as silk in any debates. Saxby should take it, but Mr. CEO will make it very, very interesting.

Even though this isn’t really new news, it will still probably require the GA Gang to expand to a full hour Sunday morning.

Probably should upgrade the TV to a widescreen so I can see the full smirk on Dick Williams’ face…
