“Free health care”. I don’t think it’s a poor word choice. I think she believes that if someone else provides something, it must be “free”.

More disturbingly, she want to bring about “economic parity”. The only way a government can bring about economic parity is to bring the middle class down to the level of the poor.

Why not have David Horowitz and Elaine Brown speek together. If you have read Davids book you would see that he has a history with Ms. Brown and he thinks that Brown may have killed or been involved in the murder of Betty Van Patter. Check out the story here:

Jeff, I believe a reading of the site in question would lead one to believe that the “legion of Negroes” quote refers to black journalists employed by the MSM, not all black Americans who are employed by any company.

But hey, look forward to your objective and accurate reporting on the real story in Iraq!

Oh, I meant to add above that although this speaker is quite appropriate for this occasion and many others, I don’t mean to imply that she would be a proper speaker for every university event. A commencement address, for example, would call for a significantly different type of speaker.

Shouldn’t universities be precisely the place where non-mainstream (to say the least) ideas can be heard and objectively evaluated? (And yes, that evaluation quite possibly would be “She’s nuts”.) It seems notable to me that conservatives often argue for causes like “academic freedom” and “students’ bill of rights” in order to ensure that our voices are heard despite considerable pressure in some circles to silence us. By that same token, we should welcome other “non-PC” speakers, even if their message is abhorrent to our sensibilities (remember, many lefties thought Cosby went too far). Unless this woman presents a grave danger to someone (which, if she’s like most kooks, she does not), then I think we should encourage both her speech and a lively debate in reaction to it.

Now, a question: Was it the NEW Black Panthers or the original that served as Cynthia McKinney’s bodyguards?

Well, here’s one who definitely isn’t mainstream (though she is apparently mainstream enough to give an address in honor of a real civil rights/”social justice” groundbreaker.

I wonder how she’d refer to Ms. Early were she giving this address at her time of graduation — would she be the first African-American woman to join the “little legion of Negroes who would abandon any sense of duty or relationship to the masses of blacks in favor of a job in the house of our common oppressor”?

I have a sad feeling that she woud.
