Baghdad-bound

by Jeff Emanuel on March 28, 2007

As Erick previously mentioned, RedState and the Department of Defense have reached an agreement on a long-anticipated plan to send myself and a colleague on a trip to Baghdad, Iraq, in which we will be embedding with troops in the field and filing reports about the situation on the ground at this point, four years into the conflict.

Needless to say, I am extremely excited about this rare and amazing opportunity to return to a country in which I last set foot nearly four years ago, to get a first-hand look at the progress there, and to get the real story on developments in-country, straight from the source.

The plan at this point involves leaving in late April, and spending a bit of time among the troops in Kuwait before heading into Iraq. Exclusive reports and other informational tidbits will be posted at RedState.com, so feel free to check in there to follow our progress, read eyewitness accounts, and to participate via the RS online community.

More information will be forthcoming as it becomes available; in the meantime, I encourage you to check RedState and my personal site for info and updates — as well as to email me (Jeff at PeachPundit) if you have any questions or thoughts.

I look forward to the experience, and to sharing it with all of you back here.

Good luck , What time I spent in the sand in 91 was not that bad. But I would not be in hurry to go back.
