Sunday Sales Has Passed Committee

Now it’s on to the floor. The Christian Coalition is opposed.

Playing off Will’s post, I think it is funny that the Speaker said

And I don’t think Republicans are doing anything other than trying to very carefully measure if we want to put that out there and let the citizens end that tradition.

I didn’t know it was the legislature’s duty to ensure the citizens of this free republic have no say in whether the citizenry ends or continues various traditions they themselves set.

This wouldn’t even be an issue if most of our Republican legislators weren’t ignorant panderers.

    dingleberry,
    I would say it as:

If we would actually elect small government conservatives instead of socialists who believe in god.

    Buzz,
If all laws would automatically expire after X number of years, we would not have to spend so much time discussing laws that should have been struck down by the courts decades ago.

I absolutely agree, if only they’d campaigned as such!

It’s the 27th legislative day next week. Let the vote be taken on the floor and let’s see what happens. I hope it passes but if not I’ll just purchase my booze on Saturday and save some to toast on Sunday.

I hope this issue will lead to the following question being asked at political debates in ’08:

“What do you believe is the purpose of government?”

Taking that attitude, one could say, “This wouldn’t even be an issue if Democrats had addressed it sometime between the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation and 2004.”

    Demonbeck,

The only difference is that what I said is actually true. Most of our Republican legislators ARE ignorant panderers.

And, quit trying to blame the dumbocrats for all the failures of the ignorant panderers of the GOP. Just because the Democrats were miserable failures as leaders doesn’t mean the Republicans should be.

The problem is, most the ignorant panderers in the GOP used to be ignorant panderers in the Democratic Party but switched to keep their power. See Sonny Perdue for more info on this.

Besides, the Blue Laws didn’t come into effect until the 1950s…about 100 years after the Emancipation proclamation.

  8. Demonbeck says:

Fine, dingleberry, the Dems had 54 years to address this issue but didn’t. At least the “ignorant panderers” on the right are addressing it and putting it up for a vote. It only took them 4 years to do so.

  9. dingleberry says:

    Demonbeck,

There’s no need to put “ignorant panderers” in quotes unless you are referring to the word itself (as I just did).

For instance, you wouldn’t write: All Republicans and Democrats are “stupid”. You don’t need the quotes because it’s a true statement. So you can just say that the ignorant panderers are addressing it and putting it up for a vote.

In any case, you’re only technically right. Remember, the Georgia GOP is made up of what used to be called the Democratic Party of Georgia. The current Democratic Party of Georgia is what used to be known as the Socialist Worker’s Party of Georgia. So really, since it’s the SAME bunch running things now that ran things 54 years ago, then it’s only taken the SAME ignorant panderers 54 years to pull their heads somewhat out of their asses…but don’t get your hopes up. After all, they’re still ignorant panderers.

Harry, so good of you to be the overseerer to make sure everyone behaves as you want them to behave. How should everyone get in touch with you when they need to ask for your permission on something?

  11. jsm says:

Harry, what does MADD have to do with buying alcohol? Last I checked MADD stands for Mothers Against DRUNK DRIVERS. Maybe you should support anything that reduces driving.
