Speaking of the Norwood Seat [evening update]

Charlie Norwood’s Chief of Staff will be running Mr. Whitehead’s race. [update: Several folks have told us that, both before and after the sad events of this week. But once we posted this, we started getting phone calls saying Joel McElhannon would be involved.]

Lynn Westmoreland’s Deputy Chief of Staff will be running Barry Fleming race. [update: Brian Robinson called to say that Barry has not actually announced and that Brian is headed to the Caribbean for a break.]

I’m fully and totally assured that Lynn Westmoreland is not involving himself in this race. There is just a friendship between Brian Robinson’s family and Barry Fleming. [update: Brian questioned the use of the word “friendship.” A close relative of his was in a car wreck and Fleming arrived on the scene to give assistance. Brian also has a relationship with the Whitehead family]

There’s an unconfirmed rumor that Justin Tomczak may play a role in Ralph Hudgen’s race, though that’s totally a rumor that I haven’t had the time to follow up on.

  2. Jeff Emanuel says:

The ACC “commish” is former County Commissioner Tom Chasteen, who ran for mayor instead of for commission reelection.

He came in third in the mayoral race and didn’t make it into the runoff.
