of course, I had to blog Charlie:

To paraphrase the late, great Lewis Grizzard, Congressman Charlie Norwood is dead, and I’m not feeling too good myself.

I wasn’t close to Charlie. That’s to say I didn’t have his cell number and we didn’t exchange Christmas cards, but I knew the man. He was a person who you instantly though, “Hey, this guy could become Governor any day he felt like it.”

He had a personality that lit up a room, which was strange because he was also the type that was not running for the TV cameras every time one was set up.

Charlie was taken from us too young, age 65. That’s not even the “retirement age” anymore. He was a fighter and he had been fighting health problems for almost the last decade. A few years back he got a new lung, and had the other taken out. He had cancer and other problems, but that never slowed him down. He would just race through the halls of Congress with his scooter with the oxygen tank attached. He never gave up on his job and the voters never gave up on Charlie.
