Perdue gives ‘quiet blessing to Sue Everhart ‘

February 9th, 2007 by Buzz Brockway · 10 Comments

So saith the Political Insider. While I agree we don’t want the Party’s rules to give a Republican Governor the sole authority to appoint a Chairman, you do want a Chairman who can and will work with a Republican Governor. Sue most certainly will work well with Perdue, Hobbs…..not so much.

So much for the idiots trashing Max Burns as the Governor’s handpicked candidate.

Let’s be clear: Mrs. Everhart was NOT, by any means possible, “handpicked” by Perdue. Everhart has been running for this seat since Spring 2006, as the Political Insider article described.

The Governor, in this case, appears to be offering no resistance to the idea of Everhart being elected chairman. That is quite a different story than Perdue just “handpicking” someone.

As far as me possibly being identified as one of those “idiots trashing Max Burns,” the REAL idiots were the people who proposed that the idea of Max Burns running actually came from the Governor…i.e., Erick and Adam.

Anyone but Anthony I say. He would destroy the party and turn it into his own little direct marketing, CB radio broadcasting, fake newspaper producing sham…with one goal in mind, profiting himself. He needs to move back to Michigan where he came from and try to clear up his name so he can some day pass a backgr0und check.

This issue on the Gov’s part is a cop out. Anyone who knows the story knows the Gov met with Sue when she first decided to run and he said no hell no. She told him she was sorry he felt that way but she was going to run anyway. Now that the Gov has no one to run, he is giving his blessing? Give me a break. I am glad Sue is running and I hope she wins. I also hope she does not cater to every whim of the Gov.

I think not having a bitter floor fight at the convention is a good thing. I’m glad the Governor and Sue Everhart have come to an understanding.

    Bill,

I’ve stayed quiet through this entire thing, and I plan to continue to do so because Max Burns is a dear friend and it would do neither me nor him any bit of good for me to comment about what he may or may not do.

At this point he is not a candidate for anything, and that is the end of the story from my end.

And because I have yet to publicly comment, I take offense that you would so vehemently distort reality just to take a cheap shot. If you look through every thread on PP regarding Max Burns and the GOP Chair race, you will see not one comment from me. About anything. Not a word.

So get your information straight before you call me an idiot…

    IDIOT.

Point taken. My humblest of all apologies, Adam. I retract you from the statement. As far as Erick goes…hmmm…

[...] More and more it looks as if Sue Everhart has the race for Chairman of the Georgia GOP locked up. Recently, Governor Perdue gave ‘quite blessing’ to Everhart. Yesterday, according to the Political Insider, Sadie Fields, former State Chairman of the Georgia Christian Coalition and current leader of the Georgia Christian Alliance climbed aboard the Everhart bandwagon.
