that is terribly sad news. we too shall be praying…we went to the same church when i lived in augusta…

  2. Bull Moose says:

Charlie Norwood is a good and decent man.

My heart is saddened for him, his family, and our state.

God bless them through this difficult passage.

  3. IndyInjun says:

Charlie Norwood is a conservative LION, who never has left the principles that got him elected at the door of the U.S. House.

May the hand of God touch him and give him comfort in these times.

    The AJC reports this:

U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood of Augusta has declined further treatment at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, and will return home for hospice care, the congressman’s office just announced.

Norwood has been battling non-small cell lung cancer since mid-November. He was initially treated with chemotherapy at Inova Fairfax and Inova Mount Vernon Hospitals, both in the Virginia suburbs outside Washington, the press release states.

Norwood will depart the nation’s Capitol as soon as an air ambulance flight can be arranged, and will receive 24-hour nursing care at home, his office said.

The press release ends with the following statement:

“The Norwood family thanks all who have helped through Congressman Norwood’s extensive health battles since 1998 stemming from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. They request continued prayers for Charlie and his family.”

Indeed. Prayers for Cong. Norwood as his family.

  5. drjay says:

in as simple terms as i can put it not all “non small cell cancers” are “large cell cancers”

but small cell cancer is a specific type characterized by the “small” cells that it consists of, not generally treatable w/ surgery, among other characteristics—everything that is not specifically “small cell” is classed as “non small cell”

  6. Jmac says:

Indeed. There are few, if any, things I agreed with him on politically, but as a native Augustan he worked hard to fight for the community’s best interests.

We don’t agree at all, but he’s been a good, dedicated public servant.

May the Lord bless him and keep him and family.

  7. TigerLily says:

It is a sad day for this state. He will certainly be missed in Congress and the GA Delegation. I pray his days at home are comfortable and full of love and support.

  8. MountainThinker says:

Charlie Norwood is, above all the many others I have known, the best and most honorable man I’ve ever known in politics. His populist brand of sincere Conservatism for the PEOPLE has made him a treasured mentor and a blessing to know as a man, a friend, a leader, and my congressman. I pray that God will grant a miracle to Charlie and his family; I know of noone more deserving… No other man in this state has done more and fought harder and yet been as humble and selfless as Charlie Norwood.

  9. dubbleel says:
