Georgia grass takes center stage at Super Bowl

No, Ron Mexico did not attempt to fly into Miami for tomorrow’s big game. But a company from Ellabell, Ga., just outside of Savannah, was in charge of laying the sod for the Super Bowl.

Most people who watch Super Bowl XLI Sunday will keep their eyes trained on the football, the players or the cheerleaders.

Todd Godwin wants you to notice the grass.

Godwin, owner of Ellabell-based Precision Golf, was responsible for laying the sod at Dolphins Stadium in Miami. He, along with six of his workers, traveled to Miami and worked from about 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for five days, laying the Princess 77 Bermudagrass sod. His team worked alongside a group from the NFL, and when everything was done “it looked magnificent,” Godwin said.

Gives to meaning to “I’d rather watch grass grow.” About how I feel about the Super Bowl. But anything to support the homies, Georgia agriculture, right?

Speaking of grass…Sonny Do, if you say you’re going to hire “80 erosion control inspectors who would rove the state to make sure developers were keeping soil out of rivers and streams”, THEN DO WHAT YOU SAY!!!

“Today, only 35 of the soil enforcement officers promised are on the state’s payroll.”

“The legislation, which was overwhelmingly approved in 2003, set up an $80 per-acre fee charged to developers. The money is split between local authorities and the state, raising roughly $3.6 million each year. But only a constitutional amendment can guarantee where the money goes, meaning it’s up for grabs each year when the Legislature debates the budget.”

If you say you’re going to do something, and get a ton of positive press for it, then do it. Be a man of your word, and do what you say, and say what you do.

Like Rex Grossman, Sonny Do dropped the ball on this one big time…

I think I saw this on the news last year because Governor Perdue was in the John Deer cutting strips of the sod that was headed to the Superbowl.
