US Air sweetens the pot.

Their increasing their bid to $10.2 billion (up from $8.5 billion):

Doug Parker, the chief executive of US Airways, said “we are making this revised offer to eliminate any doubt that a merger with US Airways offers Delta’s unsecured creditors significantly more value.”

In a press release issued early Wednesday, Parker said “it is time for this process to move forward.”

Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton told the Associated Press that the airline had no immediate comment.

Eventually, this will be too much for Delta’s creditors to resist.

Gosh, I hope they resist. Atlanta can not use another loss of a corporate headquarters. Whenever this happens, we lose high-paying jobs, at least a few. In the long term, with the number of Atlanta companies that have been acquired, this will only hurt us, I believe.
