Georgia House Speaker Glenn Richardson Wednesday announced Chris Cummiskey as his new chief of staff. Cummiskey is currently the State Director for U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson.
He will replace Jay Walker, who said earlier this month that he would be leaving to enter the private sector.
“Chris brings a wealth of both public and private sector experience to the table,” said Richardson. “His natural ability to lead and first-hand knowledge of our state are an asset not only to my office but to the entire General Assembly. Chris is honest, direct, and a hard worker, and I have no doubt he will be respected by both sides of the aisle. I am honored that he has agreed to serve as my new chief of staff.”
Previously, Cummiskey worked as a Senior Energy Trader for Mirant Corporation from 1996-1999 and 2001-2002. He left Mirant to serve a two-year stint as Director of Trading at Mieco Inc. Following his work at Mirant, Cummiskey served as Director of West Trading for R.W.E. Energy until 2003.
Cummiskey was raised in Atlanta and earned his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia.
