A Port Wentworth police officer was truly in the right place at the right time early this morning. WTOC Savannah reported earlier that the officer’s dashboard camera was rolling when a train struck a stranded car at the railroad crossing at Gulfstream Road and Highway 21.
Sgt. Loren Scholes was going about his normal patrolling routines early Wednesday morning in Chatham County. Around 5:55 am, he noticed a car stuck at the railroad intersection of Gulf Stream Road and Highway 21.
Scholes was able to get the driver out of the car before a train plowed into the vehicle minutes later. No one was injured.
