Learning From the Master a/k/a Why Guy Drexinger is a Political Whore for the Dems

Say what you will about Bobby Kahn, but our fellow Peach Pundit Contributor and Chairman of the Democratic Party, knows his stuff.

This morning I was asked to look into an ad playing on several television stations in the Milledgeville Market attacking Johnny Grant.

&#8220Drexinger is just the whore for the party’s other ends — in this case, defeating Johnny Grant.&#8221

The ad goes along with the mail piece Seth wrote about earlier.

Bruce Gilbert, the Democrat running against Johnny Grant, has up this ad. Except it is a Guy Drexinger ad. Huh?

For 25 seconds, Bruce Gilbert appears in the advertisement beating the hell out of Johnny Grant for voting for a law that denies women insurance coverage for mammograms — a clear and plain lie. Johnny Grant did not vote for such a law.

The last four seconds of the commercial contain the disclaimer that the ad is paid for by the Democratic Party for Guy Drexinger. There is also a very small black and white photo of Guy Drexinger.

Under Federal Communication Commission guidelines, if a political advertisement is paid for by a candidate or his agent and contains a photograph of the candidate at the end of the ad, the ad is a “political use

Maybe I missed it somewhere but why exactly is Drexinger paying for the ad anyway? The DPG could not do it?

    “And people trust democrats because….”

Republicans are no better. It’s a battle of the lesser of two evils, and which party a person prefers.

Drexinger is not paying for the ad the state party is. He is just allowing them to use his name and picture as a straw man to circumvent the rules.

Hey if you spent anytime working in the legislature under the rat governor and his mousey main man you know that they both know how to circumvent the law and the rules.

Thats funny, Guy Drexinger doesn’t smell like a whore.

Well, I never really thought he was running for Ins. Comm. anyway. I think he was just holding down the spot so J. Ox doen’t throw money into other races.

The only whore in Georgia politics is Larry O’neal. He is Sonny’s whore and should be impeached. Wait for the article later this week/early next week

If I recall, there was some legislation in the last two years that would have removed perhaps mamograms and other “women’s needs” from the mandatory coverage laws. There were certainly several committee meetings on this, at least one scheduled to coincide with the “woman’s right to know” bill to divide the “liberal women” lobbyists’ forces.

I obviously have no knowledge of Grant’s history with this bill, or if this bill is the one referenced in the ad. But I do know that there have been bills heard and voted on in committee that dealt with similar issues. Surely someone at the DPG did some oppo research to at least mildly support this ad? But Erick, you shouldn’t patently dismiss the claim, since your party has pushed similar legislation recently.
