Marietta Daily Journal endorses Cagle.

UPDATE: Cagle also receives NRA endorsement. See below the fold for details.

Read it here.

Cagle is also the more conservative of the two, in a state that is leaning more and more conservative. He has promised to work for lower taxes and better schools, including lowering the dropout rate and supporting the charter-school movement. He also is proposing incentive grants to encourage local school systems to increase their interaction with parents via phone calls, e-mail and personal meetings. As we all know, parental involvement is the key to improved education results.

“You can’t have good jobs if you don’t have a good educational system,” he told the Marietta Daily Journal editorial board last month.

From the Cagle email I received:

As an elected official, Cagle supported Castle Doctrine, which gives law-abiding citizens in Georgia the right to protect themselves and their families from criminal attack. He also backed Right-to-Carry, Lawsuit Preemption, and No-Net-Loss of hunting lands in Georgia.

Because of his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and hunting issues, Casey Cagle has earned an “A+” rating from NRA-PVF, the highest possible grade granted to candidates.

“Georgia gun owners and sportsmen know Casey Cagle supports their gun rights and freedoms.” Cox concluded, “We urge all NRA members and gun owners to go out this November 7th and vote for Casey Cagle for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.”

  1. I find it interesting that the Marietta paper endorses Cagle without even mentioning that their is a hometown candidate in the race. I wouldn’t expect the MDJ to actually endorse Allen Buckley but it would be nice if they at least mentioned him being in the race, especially considering the positive press Libertarian candidates have been able to generate this year.

  2. ColinATL says:

Isn’t this a bit like a headline “Republicans endorse Republican Candidate”? Seriously, are either of these endorsements newsworthy?

Say it with me now… “Slow News Day” 🙂

  3. Mad Dog says:

Did anyone read the crap in the Gainesville Times about Cagle?

    His hometown paper!

I think he said, when you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. In reference to people searching in his past.

Who was that Democratic Presidential front runner who said, I don’t have a mistress?

  4. Oz says:

Colin — Actually, the NRA endorses Democratic incumbants over GOP challengers in just about any case where the Dem has a decent gun record.

I know (as a conservative Republican) that I’ve pulled my hair out a couple of times when the NRA has endorsed the Democrat and its had an impact on the race.
