Georgia’s Republican Party is taking advantage of holding complete control of state government this year, raking in $11.1 million so far this election cycle, much of it from GOP lawmakers and Washington party PACs.
The state GOP reported today that as of Sept. 30, it had $5 million on hand for the final few weeks of the campaign season, having spent $6 million so far this election cycle, which began in 2003. The most recent disclosures run from June 30 through Sept. 30, and Republicans reported getting $3.7 million in the past three months.
Georgia’s Democratic Party hadn’t filed its Sept. 30 report as of mid-afternoon. But Democrats are expected to show having far less far money than the Republicans. Filings must be made by 11:59 p.m. Friday.
