The illustrious dubious award goes to: Sec. State Cathy Cox!

When she kicked off her quest to become governor last year, Georgia Secretary of State CATHY COX had everything going for her. She’d raised more money than Mark Taylor, her Democratic primary opponent, and had a 10-point lead in the polls as late as October. Then, her campaign manager was caught doctoring Taylor’s bio on the online encyclopedia Wikipedia — and Cox allowed herself to be bullied by Taylor’s people into firing him. Headed downhill, she pressed the accelerator by ticking off liberals and conservatives alike when she waffled repeatedly over the gay marriage issue. Through it all, Cox failed to capture voters with any innovative or inspirational ideas. She came off as if she had no stomach for what it took to play with heavyweights. We still think the woman from Bainbridge is a promising leader, but only if she’s picked up the right lessons from her unimaginative and unsure run for governor.

Word on the ‘sphere is; we shall have to wait at least four more years to see what becomes of Mme. Cox.

There’s a rumor floating around some of the Democratic blogs that she might run against Saxby in 08.

I hope she doesn’t run for Governor in ’10. If Mark Taylor doesn’t beat Sonny this year, I’m hoping Congressman Jim Marshall will run for the position in 4 years but that’s just me 🙂

Rural Dem, Even as a Republican I agree with a lot of what Jim Marshall says, but until the Democrats put some more moderate people into positions of leadership I can’t support him regardless of how good he would be for my district. Maybe I have bought into the Mac Collins ads too much, but I can’t take a chance on someone like Pelosi being speaker of the house.

The Democrat “A” team is so small that Cathy Cox is going to be rumored to run in every statewide campaign for the next 8 years.

She’s done as a democrat…not supporting the ticket. She said other day she wouldn’t run for Senate. My guess is she’ll come back as a Republican.
