Mayor Jack Ellis is moving his fourth chief administrative officer in three years out of the city’s top nonelected job, The Telegraph has learned.
Chief Administrative Officer Regina McDuffie announced the change during a Tuesday meeting with members of her staff, saying the mayor wants her to return to her former job as manager of the city’s Centreplex entertainment complex, according to two sources who were present at the meeting.
McDuffie told her staff that the transition could begin next week, according to one of those sources.
Repeated attempts to reach Ellis on his city cell phone and through spokesman Ron Wildman were unsuccessful. Wildman said he was in Tuesday’s staff meeting but “I wasn’t paying attention.
