An Arrest for Stealing Signs?

I just recieved a call that someone was arrested last night in the metro Atlanta area for stealing Karen Handel signs.  Anyone know anything about it?  Is it just rumor and conjecture?

Haven’t heard anything, but I wouldn’t put anything past that Bill Stephens crowd. They are desperate to hang onto power and will lie, cheat, and steal if they have to.

  2. Brian from Ellijay says:

No Michael, by Karen I mean Handel. I have never, in means of stealing, touched a Karen Handel sign. Bart Brannon would come after me 🙂

I did, however, put a lot up in 2003 though, so I can not say that I have not touched one.

  3. Brian from Ellijay says:

Speaking of Bart, I was out eating/drinking with several Karen supporters last night until late.

  4. CobbGOPer says:

I heard it was indeed a Stephens person, caught by a Handel staffer who called the cops…

  5. pachedhouse says:

Actually, I believe that Brian you were caught with Mary Wilhite signs in the back of your red Civic bearing Gilmer county tags…

I believe there is even a PDF out in the wild that has pictures. (I have a copy if anyone would like it… Bill, I am sure you already one?)

Now, a couple of the people on here might not know what the rest of do, but I think it has become resoundingly clear that you are a complete idiot and a disgrace to Republican cause.

Go back to Ellijay and stay there. No one wants you here.

Ah, reminds me of my intempered youth. Back in 2000, I was putting up yard signs with then State Rep. George Grindley. We were under strict orders from Judy Manning to remove any Democrat signs on any of her or her family’s properties. About 2AM, the fatigue gets to you and you are tempted to start removing every Democrat sign from everywhere.

Anyway, my good morals held fast and I explained to Grindley how opposed I was to destroying signs being they amount to an equivalent of the guarantee of the First Amendment for free political speech.

However, close to 3AM, we happened upon a Randy Sauder sign on the corner in front of a church. I excused myself and crossed to street kicking over the Sauder sign and tearing it up. After my violent outburst, Grindley asked what happened to all I said about my belief in the First Amendment. I replied that what I did was part of the First Amendment…the sign was in front of a church and we must have separation of church and state.

  7. Bill Simon says:

    Hey, Brian…

Your run-in with the Cherokee County police aside, what’s this I hear about you claiming to be dating the 18-year-old daughter of a Cobb County Republican?

She doesn’t like being lied about, especially when it is a low-class scumbag like you who claims to be dating her.

  8. bowersville says:

Wow, this thread got ugly quick. If someone has an alibi, someone needs to come on line and vouch for them immediately.

  9. fallenfromgrace says:

Pachedhouse, are you talking about bill? yea, he probably is.

Why the scumbag comment, Bill? Jealous that at least people might BELIEVE Brian could be a dating an 18-year girl (which no-one would believe about you??)

Brian is a kid in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pick on someone your own size – if one exist.

  10. fallenfromgrace says:

Bill, what is with calling the kid a “low-class scumbag”? Sounds to me you are jealous that people might actually BELIEVE he could be dating an 18-year old girl – which, of course, no-one would believe about you.

Leave the kid alone – he was in the wrong place at the wrong time doing something he should have never done- tried to be helpful.

  11. Brian from Ellijay says:

Well, one thing is for sure, it is very easy to attack someone from behind a psuedonym. It sure does hurt my feelings. NOT.

As I have said on this very same thread today, I finished the night off at a lil restaurant downtown Canton eating a big steak and drinking Sweet Water (with Karen Handels Cherokee Chairman I might add). To imply I was arrested is very low of whoever you are. I can assure you that that is not the case.

BTW, I have not responded earlier because the site has been down every time I tried to log in. I just got in from my Lions Club meeting.

Bill, is this the same type of comment as your Bill/Katie comment, tisk tisk tisk. You do not learn. And no I am not dating anyone, but I am straight. Sorry man. Look elsewhere. 🙂

  12. fallenfromgrace says:

It’s OK, Brian – Billie Boy is just jealous because people actually BELIEVE you could be dating an 18-year old girl cause NO-ONE would believe it about Bill.

You tried to be helpful – that was your first mistake.

Leave the kid alone, Bill. Pick on someone your own size if they exist.

  13. funkymonkey says:

no you were not arrested, but you did have a run in with the cops after they found signs in your car, correct, cmon don’t be a lib and not answer the question directly?

  14. bowersville says:

Will someone make a few phone calls into Cherokee? Incident reports, 911 calls, police radio logs, recordings, videos, etc. are available under the open records act.

  15. Bill Simon says:

    FallenFromGrace,

Are you a complete idiot or just a normal idiot? Brian wasn’t going to the dump to pick-up signs, he was going around taking DOWN signs. Ooh yeah, Brain Laurens, the Sign Saver…

  16. Brian from Ellijay says:

Funky Monkey, I have about 6 differnt candidates signs in my car right this moment. On top of that I have 5 differnt bumperstickers (not all of them coincide with the signs in my car) on my vehicle. To say that I have signs in my car is an understatment. LOL.

    Bumperstickers:

    Sonny
    Cagle
    Stephens
    Kemp
    Lamutt

    Signs in Vehicle:

    Sonny
    Cagle
    Stephens
    Mike Byrd
    Derrick Good
    Channing Ruskell
Oh and one Chip Rogers I forgot was in there.

These signs came from a combination of a Firestation in Holly Springs-where the city places pulled right of way signs; the Cherokee DOT off of Univeter Rd; and the Cobb DOT down off of County Services. For those of you who do not know-Illegal ROW signs are periodically pulled by the County/City/DOT. These entities can not by law destroy the signs for a set period of time. Hence they gather. I make periodic stops by these locales to pick up Republican signs, and occasionally stakes from other candidates when I am running low or a good candidate is running low.

I do not destroy signs, I have never destroyed a Republican Candidates signs. I have never used a can of spray paint, nor put stickers on anybodies signs. This election whisper campaigns have accused me of doing this in Cobb, Paulding, Gwinnett, Forsyth and Cherokee. Against said candidates Reed, Murphy, Handel, and now Wilhite. These allegations are false. These accusers must think I am damn good/effective to be in all of those places concurrently destroying all of these signs. From now on just call me “the ghost.” LOL Anywho, this is my response.

Also, the week of the election I had “run ins” with cops about three differnt times, and twice after the election. Each time they pulled me over, after seeing what I was out doing at 2 in the morning or making sure I was okay because my flashers were on. Each time after they figured out what was going on, they left me alone. No arrests. No tickets. It is all open records, go look.

  17. Brian from Ellijay says:

LOL, I am just sick of these whisper allegations. Just thought I would put my thoughts out there.

  18. bowersville says:

I’m laughing at this one too. I pulled up signs when I was in highschool, a matter of free speech no less. But, a candidate for the house was caught pulling up signs by the local paper in Habersham a few years ago, I thought that pathetic. Needless to say, that person was not elected.

  19. Brian from Ellijay says:

It is something that happens. Signs sucks. Nobody likes them. Needless to say they are a necessary evil. But that does not in itself keep the DOTs, City/County Governments, and concerned citizens from pulling them. Cherokee has a group that just drives around pulling signs out of the right a way. They do not care whos they are or what they are for, they will pull them. Property owners also pull signs that get put on their property, most people do not know who owns that corner or idea undeveloped location. But the owner does. These are all forces that candidates have to face before they even enter the political foes phase of the campaign.

Then they have to worry about people who just do not like them; Ralph Reed had a lot of his signs dissappear, and I do not think it was people who normally cared one way or the other. But regardless, his signs would come down. Then you have political activists who do not work for the opponent, but are supporting the other guy. 9 times out of 10 when something happens to a sign, the opponent is not involved/responsible. Now I have only been involved for 6 years. I do not know everything, but this has tended to be true more times than not.

Signs are like grass seeds, you throw out 10x more signs and hope that half of them make it.

  20. bowersville says:

Brian, I must ask, are you rescuing political signs off of public right of way before the GDOT conficates them, or are you retreiving them from the dump? I don’t understand the use of emergency flashers unless it was a semi-stealth operation on the public byways. Goodnight!

  21. Brian from Ellijay says:

Hahaa, for the most part the flashers were before the election putting out signs.

  22. Brian from Ellijay says:

But I was taking down Derrick Good signs at night after the election. It is much cooler than the middle of the day.

  23. fallenfromgrace says:

I don’t know, Bill, since you are an expert in “idiot”, define normal vs. complete.

Brian has friends he can actually go out with after forums, etc.
Green really isn’t a good color for you, Bill.

  24. conservativecore says:

Buffalo Bill Simon needs to worry less about signs in others cars and maybe come out of his cave and collect the signs from his loser campaign he helped demolish. Bil but precious down and walk away from the suit you are making and come clean up the mess your boy made.

  25. Bill Simon says:

    FallenFromGrace (??),

You said this: “Brian has friends he can actually go out with after forums, etc.”

Thank you for proving that you are a complete idiot. 🙂

  26. fallenfromgrace says:

Thank you, Bill. Between that comment and your comments about the signs, you have proved you are too lazy to deal in the real world.

  27. Tammi Metzler says:

I think the current revelations show how Handel supporters like CobbGOPer are willing to just make things up and lie, like this person I know, what’s her name,……oh yeah, Karen Handel.

    Karen Handel LIES in 2006

  28. fiscalconservative says:

What is funny to me is that Brian went drinking with none other than Candidate Sean Jerguson after his run in with the Sheriffs Office. He really ought to grow up and be accountable for his actions. Folks really need to look at the pathetic campaign waged by both Jerguson and Wilhite. Both have proved that they cannot take nor deliver a punch. Both have proved that they cannot raise money. Both have proved that they cannot foster a mandate from the people. I think we need to find us a candidate in ’08. I have never seem such an absence of genuine leadership. One candidate is nothing but fluff and the other is a blooming idiot

  29. CobbGOPer says:

Hey, I said “I heard…” I never said another word about it. From what I can gather, it is now just a “run-in.”

Besides, lying is BS’s purview, he’s the PR strategist after all.

Jesus Tammi, you sound like a Ralph Reed Kool-Aid drinker. You must face facts: Bill is down bigtime, and no candidate comes back from an 11% deficit to win a runoff. It’s over.

  30. CobbGOPer says:

I mean come on, if that bogus questionnare is the best Bill can come up with, then his opinion as a PR strategist/propagandist isn’t worth a buffalo nickel.

I guess that’s what he gets for thinking he and his inexperienced CM could serve as the primary strategists for a statewide campaign. Running in your local district is one thing. Statewide strategy is a whole other ballgame.

He only has himself to blame for the ass-kicking he will take on August 8.

  31. fiscalconservative says:

What about Sean bringing his proof on just one of the eight illegal workers working at his job site. He never mentioned the other seven photgraphed that day. He needs to stop denying his knowledge of the damaged signs by his operatives and stand behind the actions of those under his control. Doesn’t anyone wonder why he has lost both races at his home box in Holly Springs, the only people who have ever elected him to anything. He touts his service in Holly Springs as part of his qualifications for the legislature. Isn’t it funny that those who know him best pull another lever? I am no Mary Willhite fan but I am pretty sure she is going to the Gold Dome! The sad thing is that we really do not have a decent choice on August 8th!!!

  32. Tammi Metzler says:

CobbGOPer-You have no proof of anything happening between these campaign staffers! This is why you are changing your story. It has all been made up! You are too dumb to see that through the grapevine, Brian’s run-in concerning Mary Wilhite signs turned into a Stephens staffer being caught by a Handel staffer and arrested. No staffers were arrested. You need to stop “gathering” because you have no evidence of anything.

You, just like Handel supporters, keep making up false rumors. Talk about your whisper campaigns! And you, just like your candidate, keep denying things that are obviously true. It is not my fault her questionnaire was on her own letterhead and authenticated by the head of the group she filled it out for.

    Handel LIES in 2006

  33. Tammi Metzler says:

Well, think about it.. I’m sure Georgia Equality, like most organizations and businesses, have these thing called files, where they put things to store so that they look back at them later if needed. I’m sure all their director would have to do is look in their files for the questionnaire when asked about it and see it is the same thing. I think it is pretty reasonable to think they would keep things like that on file, especially when they were the ones asking for it to be filled out.

  34. bowersville says:

Will someone detail to me what the organization “Georgia Equality” is, and why Stephens would be so reliant on this organization?

  35. techtrack says:

how’s this quote from chuck bowen in may ’05. why would the conservative republican stephens even be meeting with the head of georgia equality in may ’05?

“Another Republican candidate who may try to move toward the middle in the 2006 elections is state Senate Majority Leader Bill Stephens (R-Canton), according to Bowen from Georgia Equality.

“I’ve met with Sen. Stephens and he had what I considered to be a conciliatory tone,

  36. conservativecore says:

    Well Tech
that is great speculation from a guy who is vehemently opposed to Sen. Stephens. Unfortunately if you compare the Georgia Equality surveys of Sen Stephens and Fulton Chair Handel there is a huge difference.

Don’t confuse being polite and cordial with concilliatory. Besides when you have won it really is unbecoming to gloat

  37. HSC Republican says:

They tried! BUT I AM FREE! They said they had proof, but could never bring it forward….silly ralph reed kool-aid drinkers! After I am told they have pictures and videos of me stealing/dystroying Reed signs, and that it is a federal crime they back down. (side note I have never harmed or stolen a opponts signs) It took a call from my lawyer and a slander suit to make them be quite. It turns out it was a deseprate attept to try and get some last min votes. How low did Reed’s people have to go to threaten to arrest a 20 year old. It is sad. Pure sad! No wonder none of my friends want to get involved with politics!
Thanks for the support Bull Moose and Demonbeck!
