1. LeftOFLeft says:

    a redneck commercial for Cagle

    hit em in the collarbone
    jack em in the jaw
    send em to the cemetery
    rah! rah! rah!

  2. The Busdriver says:

You’re missing the point. At no point has anyone claimed Ralph ecouraged forced abortions or endorsed coerced prostitution.

What Cagle IS saying is that Ralph knew the sweat shop masters were guilty of these sins, and yet Ralph still worked to provide the sweat shop masters with political cover.

Ralph knew all that was going on, but he took the money anyway. THAT is the point they’re making, and that is a point that registers.

As Ralph has said many, many times: “This is a piece of business I should have turned down.”

  3. BahamaBoy says:

As Ralph will say next Wednesday: “This is a political race I should have turned down.

  4. Chris says:

The whole Marianias Islands issue is too complex to reduce into a decent sound bite. As one candidate told me after the debates, when Casey brought to the Mariana Islands no one had any idea what he was talking about. Are the Mary Anne Islands up by lake lanier?

  5. Maurice Atkinson says:

I believe the ad is fair game given the fact that Ralph contracted the work. I am not versed on this issue and hoped to not to have to address it. I am versed on numerous other issues. Ralph calls it guilt by association, but who is the common thread in this? Ralph and Jack. Commonsense would conclude that there are serious problems with Ralph’s alliances. http://www.dontgambleonralph.com/TheTruth.pdf

  6. Maurice Atkinson says:

And what say ye, about Ralph’s radio ad smearing Casey regarding participating in the Free Enterprise System? Ralph uses distortion and fabrication regarding his votes. At no time has Casey voted on legislation that directly benefited him.

I agree the Mariana issue is to new for most people to pick up on. I however, find it enormously troubling.

  7. Jeff Emanuel says:

Haha exactly, Linda, thanks for that.

That, I think, is part of the problem with this strategy. While the conditions in the Marianas (regardless whether Reed knew or not) were horiffic, it’s the same to many folks as saying that these things were occurring in the Aleuts, Tierra del Fuego, Micronesia (where the Marianas actually are), Timbuktu, Kalamazoo, or any other locale so remote (or unreal) that Americans have no connection with it.

Erick, I think that’s why “support for forced abortions,” etc. is such a big catch phrase for those trying to make this sink in. It’d be a lot easier to explain the details — and people would be more willing to listen — were it in the US, or somewhere else that people are more in tune with. However, folks have to highlight the atrocity as much as possible in this case, since people have no connection with the place where it occurred.

While the ad is hard-hitting and could be very effective, I think that Reed can somewhat counter it by staying close to home and sticking with what he knows the people here know and care about. The shock value of “forced abortions” will only go so far when people have to then ask, “where was that?”

  9. debbie0040 says:

It amazes me that the Cagle Campaign thinks they can get away with this lie and distortion. Cagle has lost credibilty on this one. Voters will start to wonder, “If Cagle lied about this then why should we believe anything else Cagle has said?”

The bottom line is the current Governor of Alabama, Bob Riley worked with Reed on this. Does that mean he supports forced abortions and sweat shops?

  11. Romegaguy says:

Interesting Debbie keeps bringing up Gov Riley. I see some similarities between the recent GOP Gov’s primary in Alabama and the GOP Lt Gov primary here in GA. When given the choice of an ultra-right wing wacko religious hypocrite or a more moderate, experienced, business supported candidate the voters choose the more experienced business supported candidate.

  12. Bull Moose says:

Dear God Debbie please drink some coffee and come back to reality… You are so so mislead…

You just have to understand that you are supporting a lyer and a hypocrite.

The difference between the two campaigns is that Ralph did the things that Cagle says he did. Whereas, Ralph just made up and fabricated the issues against Cagle so as to distract voters from his own ethical shortcomings.

Sorry, but this is the truth.

Your guy’s going to lose and deserves to.

  13. LINDA says:

I watched some hearing a couple of years ago in the House about trade with China, and Congressman Tom Tancredo was the lone voice in the wilderness speaking out against trade with this communistic country that in now way treats its citizens with morality.

  14. tobin smith says:

One of the great things about next Tueday will be the fact that we will not have to hear from Bull Moose again. He can go back under his rock and watch John McCain reruns or something.

I’m so tired of this Ralph is evil Casey is a choirboy routine.

Casey Cagle is the consumate political insider. He is supported by the big money and Atlanta lobbyist crowd. And he has the endorsements of the AJC and the Macon liberal paper too.

That tells me all I need to know about who I need to vote for.

Mr. Reed, you have my full support.

  15. Bill Simon says:

Maybe the folks in Macon are missing the point, Erick (Maurice aside). After all, they still think we’re fighting the Civil War, don’t they?

  16. debbie0040 says:

Romega, you just admitted that Cagle is a moderate and is being supported by the moderate wing of the party Thank You, Thank You I have been saying that all along. Cagle is also being supported by Gays, the anti Sonny Flag guys, the left wing George Soros groups. Bob Riley was not a moderate, he is conservative.

  17. debbie0040 says:

Bill, some of Cagle’s biggest supporters still think they are fighting the Civil War. It is not the Civil War. The proper name is the “War of Northern Agression.” 🙂 🙂

  18. Demonbeck says:

I heard that Karl Marx came out of his grave, stole someone’s power bill and has already voted for Casey Cagle.

In fact, if you look at Cagle’s idea for Georgia, they come straight out of Max Horkheimer’s Essays on Critical Theory.

  19. “Cagle is also being supported by Gays, the anti Sonny Flag guys, the left wing George Soros groups”

But wait, you forgot to mention the ACLU, communists, godless humanists & bobbleheaded fetuses who are all pulling the strings of the anti-reed conspiracy!

Who are the fremasons backing? I mean they, skull & bones & the Illuminati are secretly ruling the world anyway . . . .

  20. GOPeach says:

    You are sooooo right on!!

Vote tomorrow and themnhelp us with the
    Grassroots effort.

Call the COBB GOP and ask for Nancy who is
    helping The RALPH REED Campaign.

Not one person I know is for Cagle thank God!

  21. GOPeach says:

    Bill Simon-

” Dive into the Hooch w/o a life perserver” ??????

    You Cagelites have such issues.

You have used some of the most violent cliches
I have ever seen by educated people.

I would expect this on a GANGSTA BLOG or
    REDNECK BLOG but here?????

It’d like your blood type is “B negative”.

  22. GOPeach says:

How ironic we are discussing Abortions –
a violent hate crime AKA muder and yet
the Casey Cagle group uses the most
    violent and morbid terminology.

    All undecided voters…

    Connect the dots!!!

Look through the blog and find teh Casey
people to be the most jaded.

All those who were with Ralph Reed and
switched over because of “bad press”…
you would be kicking yourself in the
    pants on Wednesday.

It will be hard to rebuild the relationships
you have destroyed over this race.
