John Barrow, Sitting Duck?

An anonymouse sent me this picture. It seems a lot of Republicans are thinking John Barrow is a sitting duck in the 2006 election season. Thoughts?

  1. Wow it is hard to top that comment from ugadog.

Let’s see: Barrow as a challenger beat an incumbent.
Now the former incumbent is running against him again.
When Barrow won, Bush was popular and at the top of the ticket in a Republican year.
Now, Bush is unpopular and if anything Democrats have shown tremendous momentum in Congressional races nationwide, and now Barrow is the incumbent.
Republicans changed the district, but in the process the new district actually has a higher black VAP than the previous district.

They did such a bad job with this partisan redistricting that I almost believe Eric Johnson when he says they were just putting the state back together.

He has a chance, if he runs the same campaign he did the first time and not the campaign he ran in his re-elect bid – which, BTW, was the same campaign Barbara Dooley ran when she lost to Max Burns.

His base in this district is the rural areas and not Savannah and Augusta. He must GOTV, in fact, that is truly all he should do – work on GOTV. His name rec is probably still higher than Barrow’s.

It seems to me that Barrow has been alienating Democratic voters. Fortunately for him, the Elmer Fudd reference is right on for Max Burns.

Chatham & Richmond are the Republican killers. Lots of Democratic voters in those two counties. I expect a Barrow win.

I thought Sitting Duck was his Indian name. Hopefully, it will soon change to “Lame Duck”

Sitting Duck, Lame Duck, Peking Duck, Duck a l’orange…..oh I am going to hell for that one a French reference….do forgive me…..bye bye Barrow
