Cagle’s Attack on Reed Promotes Bill Clinton-backed Wage

Legislation Granting Amnesty to Foreign Workers

U.S. territories are covered by federal health and safety laws. Cagle claims that because Ralph Reed opposed a Clinton administration wage bill, he defended the mistreatment of workers. But federal health and safety laws, including OSHA, already apply to all U.S. territories. Poor working conditions, including forced abortion and child prostitution, are illegal under current law. (Occupational Safety and Health Act, 1970)

Cagle defends Clinton plan, opposes Republican Congress. Cagle defends Clinton’s bill, H.R. 730, which imposed the federal minimum wage on the Northern Marianas. It was backed by the AFL-CIO and left-wing union bosses. It was opposed by the GOP Congress. House Majority Leader Dick Armey said it was “counter to the principles of the Republican Party, and this Congress has no intention of voting on such legislation.
