Maybe Osama Really Is After Our Cereal

Having gotten a good laugh from Brian Kemp’s mail piece, an acquaintance sent me this from Kansas State University.

For terrorists looking to strike at the nerve center of the nation’s financial and military power, New York and Washington, D.C., were obvious targets. Were a terrorist attack to occur on the heartland, such an attack need not be against humans, but where it could inflict the most harm — against its agricultural-based economy. Such a strike could be devastating, crippling the agricultural economy of the region and creating a potential economic disaster.

  1. Chris says:

    Sorry, I don’t buy it.

Al Qaeda is looking for terror attacks that look good on Al-Jezerra. Killing off a lot of corn or soybeans will hurt us badly, but it doesn’t serve their needs: big flashing things they can use for recruiting.

  2. Demonbeck says:

Al Qaeda is targeting symbols of America or things that would devastate our psyche and kill a bunch of people, not Kellogg’s Corn Flakes. We should be more worried about them attacking the CDC, CNN or Coca Cola.

Poisoning our food supply is just too tough to do effectively.

  3. Chris says:

In thinking about it a bit more, there is a threat, just not from Usama Bin Laden. Eco-terrorists like PETA or ALF could trigger a mad-cow disease epidemic to force us to cut down on our beef consumption.

(Insert snarky comment about pre-emptive regime change in San Franscisco here)

  4. Demonbeck says:

I don’t think the DHS is too concerned about an attack on the DNC. In fact, because of the proximity of CAIR to the DCCC in DC, your guess may not be too far off.

CAIR – Council on American Islamic Relations (Al Qaeda apologists)

DCCC – Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

DC – District of Columbia (Where Ralph Reed made millions through his connections with crooked politicians and lobbyists and bilked millions from casino-owning Indian tribes.)

  5. bird says:

Right. I’m sure PETA will intentionally infect a lot of animals with a deadly disease. That makes perfect sense.

What we need is a Republican AG Commissioner that isn’t afraid to stand up to PETA!
