    ABC stands by its report.

    Interesting.

It is worth noting that Hastert was one of the top recipients of Abramoff related donations.

Those involved in this Abramoff scandal, or really any bribe type scandal in Congress, deserve to be voted out of office and brought to justice.

It isn’t just Republicans, Democrats are just as bad.

Of course Dennis Hastert would be one of the top receivers of contributions in any category – He’s one of the most powerful men in Washington. I don’t think the lobbyists are too worried about McKinney or Barrow.

  3. Demonbeck says:

Is George Stephanopoulus still taking care of Webster or has he moved out of the house by now?

  4. midtowndem says:

Speaker Hastert is guilty as hell, why do you think he is defending the Democrat Jefferson(90K in his home freezer from bribes & embezzlement) who had his congressional office searched?

What does Hastert have in his office that he is afrad the FBI will find?

Hastert will not hold up very long in prison.

I personally think that it is OK to the FBI to raid a membet of Congress’s office as they did to Congressman Jefferson.

On the Speaker of the House, Im not sure eaxctly what’s going on there (as a Republican I hope he is innocent) but Im also a Republican that is absolutley fed up with corrupt members of Congress..ecspecially ones connected to Abramoff. However, ABC should remember what happend to CBS about Bush allegedly being AWOL…There is no question their reporting on this matter was not factual, nor confirmed by any one from the Justice Dept., and they should publicly appologize before this gets out of hand. I can understand mistakes happen, but its best to appologize rather than dig a bigger hole like Dan Ratherer did.

    MR,

I agree. ABC should apologize now and save face. And if it turns out that DH is in fact being investigated, then they can bring it back up. It’ll be hard to save face though if he’s never investigated but they still go with the story…

If there’s actual malice (i.e. you know something to be false), it doesn’t matter if the libelee is a public figure.
