GAINESVILLE – Rep. Stacey Reece, (R-Gainesville), Wednesday decided to leave the campaign for State Senate and, also, will not to seek re-election to the House of Representatives.
Reece, through his campaign office, issued a statement in which he said “The last four years have been a study in contrasts. I helped organize the first Republican House of Representatives in Georgia history, but I also went through a valley in my personal life and gave up precious time with my children during a critical phase in their lives. I have also had limited time to invest my fair share of energy in the growth of my businesses. My marriage just last week started a wonderful new phase in my life and brought to a head the fact I no longer desire this contrast of balancing my life between family, business, and politics.

Wow, I guess Lee Hawkins is now the front runner. I have heard that the mayor is running also though.

Mayor of Gainesville does not have a prayer of winning a county wide election in Hall County, it just is not possible. Besides, Hawkins has the seat pretty much wrapped up anyway. As for Reece, I wish him no ill, but I won’t lie, I am very happy to see him retire.
