Cagle Up According to Zogby

Again, were it someone more credible than Zogby, I’d be more inclined to go with it, but nonetheless, Zogby International shows that Cagle leads the Democratic nominee by five points and Reed trails by three. Cagle also has a 4% unfavorable among Republicans while Reed has a 10% unfavorable.

You and I (and all the politicos on the site) know this, but to a common voter that listens to poll numbers to decide what is going to happen (which in reality isn’t very many), that is a big deal. Also, many folks know Zogby as a big polling name (unlike Tarrance, SV, or POS that is mostly known only to people in politics).

This is something that Cagle (and Sonny) can really use, and you know the media will use it, as they obviously already are.

I haven’t had a chance to check yet, but does Zogby post these results, as well as the questions, anywhere?

Remember that InsiderAdvantage also found Reed upside down among general election voters (16%unfav/19%fav). So, these results are consistent with at least one other credible independent poll.

It is a certainty that Reed will lose to the Democrat if his is the nominee. The only open question at this point is how much damage his presence on the ticket might do to other candidates.

Of course, given that he’s now down among GOPers, that’s probably a moot point.

The reality of this race is there is a very clear and distinctive choice of candidates in this race. The work horse who has the experience, integrety and Senate support to get the job done and the show horse that is all talk with no public service ,budgeting experience or Senate support.

Ralph is a poisen pill and it is becoming more and more obvious everyday to any rational thinking individual. He can talk all the Grassroots BS he wants, the Georgia Republican voter profile has changed and those who would follow Reed off a cliff and hold him up to cult status have lost alot of ground and will never recapture their stranglehold on the party. The reality is the true grassroots groups are the Builders,Bankers and Realtors and they are all firmly in the Cagle camp.

At the end of the day the bottom line is Georgia deserves better and the Republican Party can present a better candidate than Ralph Reed.

  4. Bull Moose says:

The trend is clear in the poll results… Casey Cagle has room to grow and improve in his performance in a race for Lt. Governor and Ralph Reed peeked the day he announced for office.

Consistently, Casey’s numbers have gone up and Ralph’s numbers have gone down. This is a trend that will only continue.

Abramoff and the corruption investigation will be the dominating political story for the year and Greedy Reed is at the center of it with his friend Casino Jack.

    You heard it hear first,
    You can’t spell G-R-E-E-D without R-E-E-D!

  5. GAWire says:

Ah, Bull is starting to speak my language … trends!

How long did it take you to come up with that “greed” thing?

  6. GAWire says:

The reason I think trends are so important, and I appreciate Bull bringing this up, is that it doesn’t matter who did the poll or what the sample was (within reason obviously), all of the data shows the same trends, which Bull mentioned above … Cagle shows steady growth and has room to grow – Reed is losing support faster than Cagle is growing – related factors/variables such as Abramoff will continue those trends.

  7. Erick says:

I do think that, if nothing else, the Reed folks have been outplayed at Peach Pundit. Say what you will about Silence’s writing, but he made a good point that there are lots and lots of Cagle-ites engaged on here and very few Reed folks.

As Buzz pointed out a while back though, that’s not indiciative of voter strength. Still, it’s a credit to Casey’s people that they “get” the medium and are willing to engage.

  8. Bull Moose says:

Most people I talk to who have heard of Jack Abramoff, have heard of Ralph GREEDY, and they have heard of Tom DeLay and they want nothing to do with any of them. You tie that together with some of these arrogant House and Senate Members who think they are so good that they don’t have to return their contributions from Abramoff and you have a public that get’s annoyed at the arrogance…

Trust me, the trend for GREEDY is for dwindling support. It will be interesting to see if he has an ego like DeLay and sticks with it or if he realizes how much harm he does to himself and the party and gets out of the race and endorses Casey Cagle and thus we at least are ensured of picking up the Lt. Governor’s office…

My bet — GREEDY has an ego much bigger than his little body and he says that everyone is attacking him because of his moral convictions. He goes down in defeat and makes enough of a stink to make it sticky for others associated with him…
