Sonny to Iraq

Hopefully more governors will do this.

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue and three other governors will travel to the Middle East during the Thanksgiving holiday to visit with troops and meet with senior military and political leaders, Pentagon and State Department officials said Tuesday.

Specifics of the trip were not being released because of security reasons.

The power of incumbency.

While I am glad Sonny is going, I consider it very irresponsible to release this story before the visit. Very irresponsible.

“Imagine bobby kahn trying to squeeze into Army gear? Not a pretty sight.”

Can we at least be above personal attacks?

Who foots the bill for the trip? What is the cost? I understand that Georgia has many troops in Iraq, so perhaps it is appropriate for him to go. But why now, in particular, and not before?

To show the troops in person how grateful we are for their service instead of staying home with his own family. Jeez. Can’t we just say it’s a good thing? Happy Thanksgiving, boys & girls.
