Gas Gouging Settlements

I’m still somewhat perplexed by the whole gouging thing, but here is some news on the matter.

Fifteen gas stations and convenience stores have been fined up to $10,000 for price gouging after Hurricane Katrina disrupted supplies, Gov. Sonny Perdue said Tuesday.

I’m all for the free market, but gas went thru the roof after Katrina. Gas went up $0.50 a gallon here in Macon, and most gas stations had a run on them and did run out. To only be able to find 15 stations (state wide) gouging is pretty bad. I can name 15 stations here in Macon, at least they found some guilty.(sic)
