I think that the problem wasn't that the federal government was handling the situation, it was that the wrong people were in charge of handling the situation. do people really want to give the government more power in handling the issues? If you are referring to the Posse comitatus stuff. I think mostly people want the government to do its current job _well_. I will note that in Florida, Bush was handing out ice bags like the day after those hurricanes last year when all the cameras were around. I'm just sayin.
