Explosives at Tech

Not good.

Three explosive devices found in a courtyard between two Georgia Tech dormitories on the East Campus Monday morning were part of a “terrorist act,” an Atlanta police official said. One of the devices exploded, injuring the custodian who found them inside a plastic bag. Two others were detonated by a bomb squad. The custodian suffered ringing to the ears and was treated at a local hospital. The events led to a temporary evacuation Monday morning.

Thats nice and all for the APD to toss the “terrorism” moniker around, but was there a political motivation behind these devices?

Terrorism is violence against civilians for political purposes. If these kids were just being stupid (and I strongly suspect its some dumb frat prank) that doesn’t make it terrorism. Now, if the devices were planted because they wanted more parking on campus – then its terrorism.

But either way, Not Smart, Not Effective and Not Good.

Tech did look terrible against NC State just before this happened……but then again, they look terrible against everyone 🙂

Calling DHS was a smart move. I’m wondering if there is a connecting with the device found at the QT at Satellite and Pleasant Hill in Gwinnett this afternoon.
