He had the honor of making Brit Hume’s Special Report. That’s right — Brit Hume mocked Graves’s DUI during the “political grapevine” for Graves’s defense that his DUI should be thrown out under the Georgia Constitution because the legislature was in session.

From what AG Mike Bowers said in 1985, the law only protects Graves from being “prosecuted” during the legislative session. An arrest is another matter entirely.
But, what’s increasingly amazing to me is that legislators today do not seem to have an OUNCE of integrity when it comes to their personal lives. No apologies for their behaviors. No “Yes, I have a problem with drinking…Kids, don’t do this, I’m am not a good example…etc..”
IF Graves had any integrity worth a crap to be a human being, he should RESIGN.

Trust me, the legistators are horrified about his “defense” and wondering where Speaker Richardson is….

He should resign immediately. Macon has enough crazy politicians. Too bad the Republicans now have someone who joins the ranks of Mayor C. Jack.
The fact that this is a second dui and this crazy defense should bring the House leadership and local party to force his hand. He harms all Republicans every day he holds on.

Bill, though I think we’ll find ourselves disagreeing often enough, I’m going to have to recommend that everyone read Bill’s PV post today - http://www.politicalvine.com - about David Graves. I’m not endorsing anything else on the site, necessarily, but I do wholeheartedly agree and recommend everyone read it…good call.

Thanks, Silence! Actually, this is the better link, to those of you who do not know how to navigate the Vine very well: Political Boxers Challenges The Georgia State House To Demonstrate Some Integrity.

What if Fox was to get a hold of the video tape of Grave’s arrest? Do you think Britt Hume would air it?

I read the Macon Telegraph article this morning. More harmful than two DUIs is the statement in the article that he lives with his “girlfriend” in Cobb County during the session.
Wonder how all the good church folk up in Macon will feel about their drinking and partying representative living-in-sin in Atlanta?
