Georgia tied for last on SAT tests…

August 30th, 2005 · 20 Comments

What affect will this have on the 2006 elections???
Georgia’s average SAT score rose in math and verbal, but that wasn’t enough to lift the state from the basement nationally on the college admissions test.
The average in Georgia was 993, tied with South Carolina for last place among states, the College Board announced Tuesday morning.

August 27th, 2005 · 5 Comments

I’m too tired to write anything worth reading of my own, so I’m going to copy and paste from the AJC.
A law requiring Georgians to show government-issued photo identification in order to vote was approved by the U.S. Justice Department on Friday as opponents immediately vowed a legal challenge.

House Bill 244, which created [...]

August 26th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Down in Macon, where the city daily exudes more characteristics of a Banana Republic, the Mayor, C. Through spokesman Ron Wildman, [...]

But it is.
Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor said he will stand by his 21-year-old son as he faces the consequences of being behind the wheel in a fatal wreck and a resulting drunken driving charge but said he won’t give up either his current post or his campaign for the governor’s office.

What’s He Thinking

August 26th, 2005 · 19 Comments

I’ll avoid cheap shots about Jimmy Carter coddling dictators, but this has raised some homestate eyebrows.
Former President Jimmy Carter, one of Georgia’s most famous sons, was the target of scorn, shock and disbelief Thursday for lobbying to save a Connecticut submarine base at the expense of thousands of jobs for his home state. At least one [...]
