Hard times have fallen on Representative Chuck Scheid.
A Cherokee County legislator has resigned as secretary of the House’s budget-writing committee after being accused of owing the state $42,000 in personal income taxes, interest and penalties.
State Rep. Chuck Scheid (R-Woodstock), by relinquishing the leadership post, also loses his coveted seat on a powerful subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, commonly known as the “green door committee.”
He’s been dealing with both the Department of Revenue and the State Ethics Commission. Scheid says he lost many of his records in a fire last year. That is making things difficult for him.
